Ancho Chile Chili Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons The Spice Alchemists Ancho Chile Chili Starter spice blend
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 (15 ounce) can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- Optional: 1-2 tablespoons tomato paste (for thickening)
Instructions:
- Brown the Meat: In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Sauté the Onion: Add the diced onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the Spices: Stir in the 4 tablespoons of Ancho Chile Chili Starter spice blend. Cook for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to bloom.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the drained kidney beans, tomato sauce, and undrained diced tomatoes to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Simmer and Thicken (Optional): Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. If you want a thicker chili, stir in 1-2 tablespoons of tomato paste.
- Serve: Serve hot, topped with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, or tortilla chips.
