Tomato-Onion Umami Jam
A rich, savory finishing touch for your Burger Brilliance Bistro Burgers.
Sweet caramelized onions, slow-simmered tomatoes, and a touch of Burger Brilliance come together to create a deeply flavorful burger topping you’ll want to use on everything.
Ingredients
-
1 large yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
-
1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or high-quality canned, drained)
-
1 tsp Burger Brilliance
-
1–2 tsp brown sugar
-
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
-
2 tbsp water (as needed for deglazing)
-
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
-
Pinch of salt
Directions
-
Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-low heat.
-
Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook low and slow, stirring occasionally, for 10–12 minutes until softened and golden.
-
Stir in diced tomatoes, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and Burger Brilliance.
-
Add water to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits.
-
Simmer for 5 - 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens into a rich, jam-like consistency.
-
Spoon generously onto burgers, sandwiches, or grilled meats.
